Air conditioning Drouin

Winter sets the brief in Drouin. The nearest Bureau of Meteorology temperature record, the old Warragul station (1962 to 1979 only), had a July mean minimum of 3.8°C and averaged 10.9 days a year with a minimum at or below 0°C.

So when we plan air conditioning Drouin homes, heating comes first: a reverse cycle system has to be sized for frosty mornings, then checked for summer. With 89.8% of occupied homes being separate houses, ducted air conditioning is a natural fit, and a split system suits a single living area. I Heat and Cool is a family-owned business based in Pakenham with over 20 years in heating and cooling.

Heating-first reverse cycle for frosty Drouin mornings

Drouin is a growing town. Census counts went from 12,349 in 2016 to 15,287 in 2021, and the Drouin Precinct Structure Plan, gazetted in 2014, guides growth from 11,000 to 29,000 residents through 7,400 new homes over 30 to 50 years.

For a new house, ducted reverse cycle covers heating and cooling with one system. Zoning lets you warm the living areas on a cold morning without heating empty bedrooms, and the same system still needs enough cooling capacity for hot days.

Most of the town is inside the designated Bushfire Prone Area, and parts are covered by the Bushfire Management Overlay. That is worth knowing before you put an evaporative cooler on the roof.

Homes in the Princes Way Residential Precinct (HO80) fall under Baw Baw’s heritage exemptions: no permit is needed for an outdoor unit that meets set placement conditions, such as not being on the front wall or on a roof plane facing the street.
